| Safeguard Adds Two New Safety Colors to its Hi-Traction Glo Series STREETSBORO, Ohio – (September 14, 2010) – Safeguard Technology, leading innovator of anti-slip solutions, has added two new safety colors to its cutting-edge Hi-Traction Glo series — Glo Safety Yellow and Glo Safety Lime. Safeguard® Glo Safety Yellow & Glo Safety Lime Covers for Steps, Walkways, and Ladder Rungs provide high-visibility safety colors during the day and “glow-in-the-dark” safe egress at night, or when the light source is removed. The standard, or original, photoluminescent anti-slip cover is white in color when non-glowing. For years, Safeguard customers have been asking for additional colors that glow in the dark, most notably the Safety Yellow. Some anti-slip products apply “glow-in-the-dark” paint to their products, however, the paint quickly wears off, and the glow characteristics of these paints are not as strong or durable as the integrated pigments. After years of trial and error, Safeguard perfected the process of incorporating the photoluminescent pigment into various colors in addition to white. The Hi-Traction Glo Series combines Safeguard’s high-quality anti-slip surface with a long-lasting glow-in-the-dark pigment. The inorganic-photoluminescent pigment is non-toxic, non-radioactive, and can be recharged repeatedly during the life of the product. Both colors exhibit excellent weather and light fastness. The Hi-Traction Glo covers can be fully recharged after just five minutes of direct sunlight exposure, eight minutes of exposure at dusk, and 10 minutes of exposure in florescent lighting. Once charged, the product provides luminance for no less than 12 hours (to the adjusted eye), providing workers with visibility in the dark on stairs, walkways and ladders. Safeguard also offers two-toned Hi-Traction Glo covers, including safety covers with photoluminescent nosing and ladder-rung covers and walkway covers with photoluminescent edges. Descriptive markings, critical safety messages or PPE (personal protective equipment) symbols can also be illuminated in the dark with Safeguard’s customizable HiGlo safety messaging.
